Brief Introduction of the Department of Foreign Relations

The Department of foreign relations, is one of the main departments of the Ministry of Justice of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. This department was established in 2017 in order to prepare passport and visa for high-ranking employees, establishing relations with domestic and international institutions and processing the documents for acquiring and relinquishing citizenship.

Organizational Structure of Foreign Relation Department:

The Department of foreign relation has One (1) post of Sub-department, Three (3) posts of general management and Four (4) posts of management.

  • Sub-department of coordination with institutions;
  • General management of nondiscretionary projects; this management has in its formation One (1) post of management (nondiscretionary projects coordination).
  • General management of coordination with institutions; this management has in its formation One (1) post of management (coordination with institutions).
  • General management of foreign relation; this management has in its formation One (1) post of foreign relation management and One (1) post of executive management.  

Main Objectives of Foreign Relation Department:

Arrangement and facilitation of passport and visa for foreign travels of high-ranking employees through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, acquire and relinquish of citizenship according to law of citizenship, and engagement and ensuring relation with institutions and NGOs are the main objectives of this department.

Main Duties of Foreign Relation Department:

  • Legal processing of documents for acquiring and relinquishing of citizenship.
  • Adaptation of the draft memorandum of understanding of domestic and foreign institutions and its processing.
  • Processing of documents for foreign travel of the Ministry’s employees.
  • The High Commission on combatting trafficking in person and migrants, raising public awareness through media, conducting conferences, seminars, workshops and prepare footage about dangers/hazards caused by human trafficking.
  • Provincial Commission on combatting trafficking in person and migrants in all provinces and coordination with active institutions in human trafficking arena.
