The Sub-department of Procurement, at the beginning was working in the structure of financial and administrative department under the title of (Sub-department of Procurement). Based on the requirement, in the year 2012, it was upgraded to the Directorate of Procurement, and then in year 2018, in the organizational structure of this ministry, the Directorate of Procurement, was changed into the Sub-department of Procurement.
The Structure of the Sub-department of Procurement:
This sub-department in its structure has two General Management (General Management Facilitation of Contracts and Planning, and General Management Procurement).

The General Management Facilitation of Contracts and Planning: This Management in its structure has one Management Facilitation of Contracts and one Management of Planning;

General Management Procurement: This Management in its structure has one Management Goods Procurement, one Management Construction Procurement, one Management Non-consultative Procurement, and one Management Consultative Procurement.
Main Objectives of the Sub-department of Procurement:

Upgrading the procurement capacity level and obtaining capacity by the National Procurement Authority;

Promoting the culture of new and systematic procurement instead of the old system of the ministry;

Establishing effective databases for the management of contracts;

Development of the department and capacity building of the staff members of Sub-department of Procurement; and
-
Increasing the access to procurement related information.
Main Duties of the Sub-department of Procurement:

Procurement of goods, construction materials, consultative and non-consultative services;

Provide facilitation in the procurement processes and contracts;

Purchasing goods for the departments who have dire needs to;

Providing procurement related consultations to the competent authorities to ease the procurement processes;

Managing the contracts and timely payment to contractors;
-
Processing the procurement documents; and
-
Participation in the procurement and financial meetings.
