ABOUT THE MINISTER

This conference was conducted by CSSP in Safi Landmark Hotel. The participants of the meeting included H.E. Dr. Abdul BasirAnwar, Minister of Justice of IRA, acting Director of Juvenile Correction Centers, Managers of Juvenile Correction Centers in provinces, and representatives of partner organizations.
In the begging of this meeting, the Minister of Justice recognized the week of martyrs, and prayed for the soul of the lost ones.
Emphasizing on responsibilities of officials of Juvenile Correction Center, the Minister of Finance said: You have a huge responsibility in a very sensitive situation and time. Youth of the country expect you to be good coaches and teachers. These teenagers have committed mistakes and laws have brought them to you. They are in a very sensitive point of their lives and a stage of physical, and mental growth. Educating and correcting these children are our religious responsibilities. You, having the biggest responsibility towards them, must know that according to Children Rights Convention, they are entitled to certain rights such as children rights, human rights, spiritual healthiness, integrity and so forth. These rights must be respected.
The Minister of Justice requested the officials of Juvenile Centers to pave the ground of education and healthcare facilities for children of correction centers based on the agreement of 9 parties, and with cooperation of Ministry of Education.
He also requested the officials to pay serious attention to personal healthcare of the children, cleanliness of the correction centers, healthy and sufficient food, communication with families, assigning kind and ethical teachers in dormitories, creating sports facilities, and ways to get children under sun light.
The Minister of Justice appreciated national and international organizations that have cooperated in this regard and requested continuity of their assistance with the Ministry.
Dr. Patan, Deputy Chief of Team of CSSP briefed about their activities and assistance in MoJ and promised to continue their cooperation with them.
Then, Mr. Amini, Acting Director of Juvenile Correction Centers in Kabul talked about some challenges faced by the centers and promised to let officials of MoJ know about them and strive to solve them.
At the end, representatives of CICC, OYK, and TDH talked about their activities and assistance to the ministry and promised continuity and expansion of their cooperation.
