Mr. DraganPopovic, Manager of the Afghans Access to Justice Project (AAJP), along with some of his staff members, met with Sayed Mohammad Hashimi, Deputy Minister (Financial and Administrative) of the Ministry of Justice of the Islamic Republic of Afghan

In this meeting, both sides discussed issues that may be considered in the Implementation Plan of the Afghans Access to Justice Project.

Mr. Hashimi, the deputy minister said that the memorandum of understanding (MOU) of the Legal Aid Grant Facility (LGF) was coming to an end therefore, a joint work between the Ministry of Justice,IAWA and the United Nations Developing Program (UNDP)was required, because thememorandum of understanding (MOU) constituted thebasis for the trilateral cooperation. He asked the manager of the Afghans Access to Justice Project(AAJP)to discuss with the representative of the IAWA to work over the future memorandum of understanding (MOU).

Mr. Hashimi said that he wanted amendment in the Implementation Plan of the Afghans Access to Justice Project (AAJP). He alsoasked for further cooperation with the Legislative Stage of this ministry.

Mr. Hashimi considers that the detailed plan of cooperation with the Department of (Taqnin) of this ministry, is very important, therefore requested them to work on a detailed plan of cooperation with the Department of (Taqnin) of this ministry. He also asked for their cooperation in upgrading the technical and professional capacity of the Human Right Support Unit of this ministry.

Both sides also discussed pertaining the plan and the modality of transferring the Human Rights Support Unit into the government structure.

The Deputy Minister reiterated that it was one of the priorities of the ministry to have a Human Rights Support Department in the government structure therefore, there was a need for a joint work. Meanwhile he was in favor of developing a joint plan for implementing the recommendations.

At the end, the Deputy Minister of Justice expressed gratitude for the cooperation rendered by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to the Ministry of Justice and called for the continuation oftheir assistance with the ministry, in future.
