Technical Committee of High Commission for Combatting Human and Migrants Trafficking Convenes Meeting

This meeting was conducted under the chairmanship of Naife Riazat, Acting Director of Foreign Relations Directorate of Ministry of Justice of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Head of Technical Committee for Combatting Human and Migrants Trafficking and representatives of member institutions. A delegation of the board of International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) of Austria was also present.

In this meeting, the activities of the high commission, the new law on Combating Human and Migrants Trafficking, national action plan on Combating Human Trafficking, priorities plan and public awareness plan were introduced to the participants.

The mentioned board raised questions on types of combating human trafficking and prosecution of its perpetrators. Muhamad Hassan Saleemi, professional member of human rights unit and in charge of the Secretariat of the Technical Committee of High Commission for Combating Human and Migrants Trafficking, provided details about the High commission on Combating Human and Migrants Trafficking and added that the High Commission for Combating Human and Migrants Trafficking is comprised of 3 units, of which, the first unit has the responsibility of pursuit, identification and detection, which contains Ministry of Interior, National Directorate of Security and Attorney General Office. The second unit has the responsibility of protection of the victims of human and migrants trafficking, which includes Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and Ministry of Women Affairs. The third unit contains Ministry of Hajj and Endowment Affairs, Ministry of Education, Independent Human Rights Commission, Afghanistan Independent Bar Association which has the responsibility of awareness as to human and migrants trafficking.

It’s also worth mentioning that in this meeting,  methods of working of the high commission and provincial commissions were also discussed.

At the end, the board of International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) made promise for cooperation and assured, if necessary, will conduct training programs in order to increase the capacity of members of the Technical Committee for Combating Human and Migrants Trafficking.
