MOJ Convenes Conference of Heads of Juvenile Rehabilitation Centers of Provinces

This conference convenedwith the participation of Deputy Minister for Technical Affairs of Ministry of Justice of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Deputy Minister forIslamic Studies of Ministry of Education, General Director of Juvenile Rehabilitation Centers, General Director of Legal Aids Department, representatives of international cooperating organizations and the heads of Juvenile Rehabilitation Centers of 34 provinces, at the Kabul Rehabilitation Center.

At the beginning, His Excellency Mohammad QasemHalimi, Deputy Minister for Technical Affairs of Ministry of Justice discussed in respect to juveniles who are serving at rehabilitation centers, and stated that:the mentioned juveniles are not criminals and they are not being called as criminals. Because, they are still children and are incompetent todifferentiate the bad and the good activities. Families, especially parents have the responsibility ofupbringing them. He further stated that one of the portions which is directly under my consideration, is the Juvenile Rehabilitation Centers. I will try my best to handle the rehabilitation of juveniles in an appropriate manner.

Following that, the Deputy Minister of Education addressed the educatingand upbringing affairs of juveniles at Rehabilitation Centers, and stated: Ministry of Education has always been counterpart to the Juvenile Rehabilitation Centers. He pledged to cooperate in hiring professional instructors, preparing training classes and some other affairs relating to Juvenile Rehabilitation Centers. He further stated that handling the affairs of these juveniles, is one of our basic responsibilities, and will try our best on handling them.

At the end, the General Director of Juvenile Rehabilitation Centers, General Director of Legal Aids Department and the Chiefs of cooperating organizations provided their speeches and declared their cooperation pertaining constructing the Juvenile Rehabilitation Center’s buildings, training of juveniles, as well as, consideration to their cases.
