ABOUT THE MINISTER
The call center of legal services’ department of ministry of Justice started its activity with the number (188) to provide the citizen with legal advises. The center was inaugurated with ceremony of cutting the ribbon by Sayed Mohammad Hashemi, the administrative deputy of the ministry of Justice on Saturday 1395/11/16 (4th of February 2017) and officially started the activity.
The administrative deputy of ministry of Justice during the opening ceremony said: it is one of the important and fundamental responsibilities of the ministry of Justice to provide the citizen with legal awareness. Therefore, from the beginning of work of ministry of Justice after the year 2001, we had the legal awareness program for our citizen in the capital and provinces, and is still continued.
He added that, today is a very important day for us, because we are going to start another program of legal awareness which is providing the telephone legal advice. This program has been launched at a cost of one million and five hundred thousand Afghani with the support of the project (National Justice and Judicial program) which is funded by World Bank and four persons (two males and two females) are appointed to provide legal advice in this call center.
The deputy of the ministry of Justice states the continuation of this program very crucial, and he requested the international partners to cooperate and assist in the continuation of this program with ministry of Justice.
Mohammad Ashraf “Rasooli” the senior adviser to the ministry of Justice also stated that, informing and providing legal awareness to our citizen is one of the most significant duties of the ministry of Justice. To the extent we make good laws, but as long as the implementation is not provided, the law will not work. He added that, legal awareness provide a better ground for implementation of law and if we organize this program through telephone, it means all those who have access to these call services can better utilize the legal services.
The call center works from 8:00 A.M in the morning to 4:00 P.M in the official days and provide free legal advice to the citizen in criminal, civil and family cases.
In the end, Assadullah Wahdat the general director of legal aids of the ministry of Justice reminded about the responsibilities and obligations of this department and provided information about the performance of this department to the participants.
