Minister of Justice’s visit with the rule of law advisor of EUPOL office

Saranpoh Habibullah Ghalib, the minister of Justice of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan visited Mrs. Ana Lincks Fild the rule of law advisor of the EUPOl office in his office. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss on ways of how to use an amount of 120.000 euro which is going to be spent in activities related to public legal awareness in Balkh and Samangan provinces.

At the beginning Mrs. Ana spoke on this regard adding that; “We have received a donation from the ministry of foreign affairs of Germany to be used on delivering the public legal awareness services in the districts and far reaching areas of the Balkh and Samangan provinces which will be leaded by Afghans themselves.”

She informed the minister of justice on the increased effectiveness and co-ordination in this regard and asked for his advice about.

Emphasizing on the existence of co-ordination between the governmental and non-governmental organizations involved in providing the legal aid assistance the minister added; “All the governmental and non-governmental organization providing the legal aid services to the people should enjoy sufficient co-ordination so that the reiteration of a certain program could be avoided in the same area and all the districts and far reaching areas could benefit the services at the same level.

He emphasized that; “The people living in far reaching areas such as villages, valleys and districts are in more need of the public legal awareness services than those living in the cities and capital. Therefore, all the governmental and non-governmental organizations working in this regard should carry out this program as carefully and step by step so that the negative reaction of the public could be prevented. To make this program acceptable for all people, this campaign needs to be done through the Mullahs of the mosques, influential figures and honest teachers being trusted by the community.

Authentic study of the social and cultural conditions of the areas undergoing this campaign was recognized as the key for succeeding this program by his Excellency stating that; the level of literacy and knowledge, age, customs and cultural issues related to a specific community are considered to be of the key points for undertaking this campaign and performing this job requires competent experts.

Doing so would enable us to prioritize our programs and establish an efficient national strategy for this purpose.

At the end, the minister of justice of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan expressed his gratitude for the assistances provided by the EUPOL for the justice and asked her for extension of the same programs in other provinces.
